Introduction
This page contains information about how gearing works in WAR and links to equipment sets for every Career.
Equipment description
Gear is also called equipment. The main goal when assembling BiS (Best in Slot) gear is to combine various Armor and Jewelry sets and weapons from various sources.
Equipment screen
Below is your character's equipment screen.
It consists of several areas to pay attention to:
- Event Item slot. This Item is usually gained from Influence while doing Event tasks. It usually decays (being destroyed) from 7 to 90 real life days.
- Armor items. These are the items that give you protection and set bonuses. Starting from top:
- Head
- Shoulders
- Back
- Chest
- Hands
- Belt
- Boots
- Pocket items - these slots are used for small items usually just for fun or Tome of Knowledge unlocks, but also can be used to carry bonus items like this Keg
- Weapon slots - these are slots for primary, secondary, and ranged weapons. Some Careers use one- or two-handed weapons, some use only two-handed weapons such as staves, some have access to shields or ranged weapons.
- Jewelry items - there are 4 slots you can put Jewelry in. These do not give armor. Usually, they are single items but there are some Jewelry sets or even Jewelry - Armor sets.
- Trophies - these are slots for up to 5 cosmetic items you can attach to your Armor. If there is an "X" on the icon, you need to move it to the other part of the Armor by clicking on the arrows.
- Banner slot - is used for the guild Banner carrier.
Equipment sets
Armor and Jewelry sets (sometimes mix of both) give additional bonuses. For example wearing 2-pieces of Conqueror for Choppa give +57 Strength. Most sets start with adding stats and with more pieces You gain passives and utilities.
Equipment progression
In Warhammer Online there are several requirements that you need to meet in order to wear an item:
- Career (Class) Rank (Level).
- Optional - Renown Rank.
- Optional - Ward.
The Ward system streamlines your gear progression. There are 7 wards available, each gained by completing the pieces of Armor.
Equipment sources
Most Armor sets are purchased with either War Crests or War Tokens, which are part of the unified currency system within the game. Some examples of ways to earn armor, and currencies to purchase it, include:
- Open RvR - By participating in Open Realm vs Realm, you can earn War Crests.
- Scenarios - Playing Scenarios will also award War Crests upon completion. Ranked Scenarios also award unique currencies.
- Public Quests - Earning Gold bags in higher difficulty Public Quests may award you Armor pieces. you can also buy these directly with War Tokens.
- PvE - you can earn full armor sets from Dungeons (like Mount Gunbad), or via specific quest chains. Additionally there are End-game Public Quests called Chapter 22
- Accessories - you can earn special accessory sets by completing specific Tome Unlocks around the world, or via War Crests and Genesis Crests.
You can choose to gear up with either PvP or PvE, and generally, a mix of both will provide the best-in-slot rewards for those looking to perfectly hone their character.
Talismans
Some Armor pieces, weapons or even jewelry have talisman slots. These are the places you can slot talismans into. Talismans allow you to add stats to existing items. you can get, for example, more strength, armor, or resistance from the item. Talismans can be acquired from quests, Public Quests, Auction House or made by Talisman Making.
In order to put a Talisman into an item, you need to move it to your backpack, Shift + Right click on the item.
Next put Talisman in slot and click Fuse.
Important notes::
- Talismans are single-use. After fusing, You cannot extract it.
- You can't fuse talismans of the same type in 2-slot weapon, for example 2x +19 Willpower. However you can fuse 1x +19 Willpower and 1x +22 Willpower.
- You can't fuse talismans of the Item level higher than gear's Item level. For example, You cannot put endgame +24 Wounds into Decimator Set
