Scavenging

Learn the Scavenging skill to start checking the pockets of nearby bodies.

Scavenging is a Gathering skill in Return of Reckoning that can be used to acquire crafting materials, like Talisman Fragments, Curios and Gold Dust.

As these materials are most useful for the Talisman Making profession, it's common to pair Scavenging with it.

To learn the Scavenging skill, head to your Capital City of choice and look for:

• Order: Elsbeth Reiss, Altdorf Market.
• Destruction: Lorne Foulsteel, The Inevitable City Apex.

Let's loot some corpses!

Once looted, you'll see a pair of pliers to indicate that you can scavenge a humanoid body.

Armed with invaluable knowledge on how to search a dead person's pockets, it's time to Scavenge your first body.

Head into the open world and kill any humanoid NPC, then loot any items from the corpse. Once the body has no more items, you'll see a Pliers icon that indicates you can right-click to Scavenge the corpse.

When Scavenged, the NPC corpse will vanish and you'll gain the looted item.

• Note: While you mostly Scavenge humanoid NPCs, there are some exceptions to this, like Deer. We're unsure why this is, but clearly the Deer have more pockets than we gave them credit for.

Leveling up Scavenging

You have a chance to level up Scavenging each time you Scavenge a mob that can drop materials at or above your current skill level.

By mass scavenging high-level mobs, you can very quickly reach the max at level 200. Scavenging, like Butchering, is one of the easiest gathering skills to max.

Fragment Rarity

The rarity of the Talisman Fragments you collect from Scavenging is based on the type of NPC you Scavenge:

• Normal NPCs can drop White, Green, or Blue rarity fragments.
• Champion NPCs and above have a chance to drop a Purple rarity fragment.

The rarity color of the fragment will generally be the same as the rarity of the Talisman you can make with it, with Purple Rarity Talismans being the strongest and most sought after.

Scavenging Tips

• Even at level 1 Scavenging, you can Scavenge any humanoid mob, no matter their level. However, you can only gain fragments, dust, and curios within your level range. (To get high level ingredients, level up your Scavenging skill and then Scavenge high-level mobs.)

• The level of the mob determines the level of items you can Scavenge, and every 5 levels a mob increases = +25 to the power of the items you'll find.
  • Example: For level 50 Materials, farm mobs level 10-14. For level 75 Materials, farm mobs level 15-19, and so on.

• As with all Gathering and Crafting skills, you'll gain more inventory space in your crafting bag at level 100 and 200!

• Any class can Scavenge, but you'll likely find it most useful on classes that can either AOE large groups of mobs, or handle farming Champions. If you want to farm Champions for purple fragments, classes like Shadow Warrior, Warrior Priest, Disciple of Khaine, Marauder, and Squig Herder all make good Scavengers.

You can obtain gold dust and curios from scavenging humanoid corpses for Talisman Making, as well as fragments. Gold Dust can also be obtained through Salvaging, but Curios and some fragments can only be obtained through Scavenging.

• Most curios are found by Scavenging, and you can also trade or buy these from other players via the Auction House.
• Players with access to Guild Merchants can purchase level 25, 75, and 125 Curios from the Quartermaster in either Sigmar's Hammer or The Viper Pit.
