Apprentice boon

The Apprentice Boon increases Character XP gain by 50% for 6 hours. It can be purchased with Mentor's Marks or obtained by interacting with a rare creature in a Tier 1 zone.

The Apprentice Boon is a consumable item that increases Character XP Gain by 50% for 6 hours.

Acquiring the Item

Apprentice Boons have two known sources:

• Purchase a scroll for 3 Mentor's Marks from a Mentor's Marks vendor. See Mentor Quests for the vendor and rewards list. Scrolls purchased with Mentor's Marks are account-bound and can be mailed to characters of the same faction on your account, according to the 13 March 2026 patch notes.
• Interact with the Tier 1 rare mob found on the roads in your faction's zones:
  • Rare Sprite (Order)
  • Lucky Gobbo (Destruction)

Only Order players may interact with the Rare Sprite, and only Destruction players with the Lucky Gobbo. By interacting with the mob, the player immediately acquires the item and the mob falls over to begin its respawn timer.

Mob Respawns

The rare mobs which drop these items have a much longer respawn timer than normal. (At least 1-2 hours.)

Advice on using the Apprentice Boon

This item is the polar opposite of the PvE Instructor's Boon, which reduces XP gain in PvE. Generally, players who want to get into the PvP aspects of the game later are recommended to level up their Renown rank and keep this as close to (ideally above) their Character Rank.

This is because once you reach maximum level, you will be placed into Scenarios with players that are up to Renown Rank 80, meaning the gear gap becomes much more considerable than it was at level 39 and below.
