Currencies
War Crests and War Tokens
As part of the new Unified currency of the March 2022 patch, Return of Reckoning now features unified PvP and PvE Currencies, which can be earned by any character at all levels within the game.
- In PvP, your character will earn War Crests.
- In PvE Public Quests, your character will earn War Tokens.
- Subjugator Weapons and Genesis items are now purchased with Genesis Crests.
War Crests
The War Crest unifies rewards for all PvP game-modes (Scenario, Realm vs Realm and Ranked) in Return of Reckoning into a single currency. They're marked by a distinctly red color.
You can start earning War Crests at level 1, and you'll use this same currency for all PvP gear as you level up, from your first pair of Boots all the way to Sovereign Gear.
You can earn War Crests by:
- Killing enemy players in RvR
- Playing Scenarios
- Locking Zones and Fortresses
You can also earn bonus War Crests from Zone Lock bags in Open RvR from level 16+, with higher color bags awarding the most War Crests.
This new unified system means that players no longer need to specifically farm only Scenarios, Open RvR, or Ranked Scenarios for specific items -- they can now play whichever kind of content they'd like to acquire their gear.
Note: You'll get bonus War Crests if you lock a Zone or Fortress from your Racial pairing. For example, a High Elf or Dark Elf locking the High Elf zone "Caledor" will get extra War Crest payouts, up to a maximum of 30.
War Tokens
War Tokens are the new unified PvE Currency, and are earned by completing Public Quests.
War Tokens are colored blue to clearly identify them from War Crests, and can be used for:
- Purchasing PvE Armor Sets
- Purchasing Health and AP Potions from vendors
- Purchasing Crafting items (like Talisman fragments, Containers, etc.)
The higher the bag color you earn in the Public Quest, and the higher level the Public Quest, the more War Tokens you'll find within.
Genesis Crests
Previously, players had to rely on RNG to get a Genesis piece or Subjugator Weapon they wanted, and often would get many duplicates along the way.
This has been replaced with new unified Genesis Crests, which allow players to select the specific accessory or weapon they'd like, and can be earned from level 16+.
You can earn Genesis Crests via:
- Zone Lock Bags in Tier 2+
- Trading in a Guild Coin in either Sigmar's Hammer or The Viper Pit.
You'll get One Genesis Crest in a White Bag, Two Crests in a Green Bag, and so on, up to a maximum of Five Genesis Crests in a Gold Bag.
Genesis Crests are also now used to purchase Subjugator Weapons, with 1-handed Weapons costing 15 Crests, and 2-handed weapons 30 Crests.
Spending your War Crests, War Tokens, and Genesis Crests
Players of both factions can spend their War Crests and Genesis Crests in the Southern parts of both Altdorf and The Inevitable City.
- Order Players should head to the War Quarters in Southwest Altdorf.
- Destruction Players should head to the Undercroft in South Inevitable City.
In Tier 1, both factions can also spend these War Crests in the Warcamps located just outside each RvR pairing.
30-Day Mount Voucher
This single use Mount Voucher will let you purchase a 30-day race specific Guild Mount from Speciality Mount Wrangler located in Altdorf's War Quarters or The Inevitable City's Stables.
To obtain this voucher, you first need to reach Renown Rank 80 with your character, afterwhich you will be able to buy a letter from Records Keeper located in Altdorf's Library, The Inevitable City's Library, Karaz-a-Karak's Empire Headqurters or Karak Eight Peaks's Chaos Headquarters.
After completing a short quest, you will be rewarded with multiple items, including the 30-Day Mount Voucher.
The new Ward System
Alongside the change that unified all Old Currencies, a new Ward System was introduced.
Players can now use either PvP or PvE Gear to unlock the Wards required to equip more powerful gear, allowing players to use PvE content as a way to save their War Crests for more expensive purchases down the road.
Please see the Wards Page for more information on this system.
Why was currency Unified?
- To simplify and condense many different currencies into something both new and veteran players will find straightforward and easy-to-understand.
- To allow players to play the kind of content they enjoy most while still progressing and empowering their characters - be it Scenarios, Open RvR, Dungeons, Ranked, or more!
- To allow the developers to create new content, and add new equipment, without having to worry about additional currencies.
