Dwarfs are consummate craftsmen. Their reverence for the past, combined with their innate sense of perfectionism, makes even the smallest change or innovation to these ancient processes a frightening prospect for most Dwarfs.

This is not the case for Engineers.

Engineers embrace the relatively "new" arts of gun-making and machinery. "New" is a relative term, of course, given that such contraptions have only been around for a few thousand years.
