Banshee

A Banshee is a type of malevolent spirit or ghost which appears as an ethereal female figure who's soul has been prevented from departing into the realms of the dead. Never will such a creature be called to account for her crimes in life, and she will forever roam this world, angry and resentful of the living. They emit a ghastly, shrieking howl which are known to break the spirit and willpower of mortals. Lesser men have been known to die of fright upon hearing the keening wail of a Banshee.

Banshees appear in Elven mythology as a harbinger of death.
