Night of Masks
The Live Event "Night of Masks" is an original Live Event built by the Return of Reckoning team which first debuted in February 2026.
In this event, envoys from Estalia arrive in both Altdorf and The Inevitable City, and can be found at:
- Altdorf: Emperor's Circle (Mid/South Altdorf)
- Inevitable City: Emissary of Change (Mid/South IC)
Event Lore
In the distant lands of Estalia, one night every year peasant and noble alike don masks to hide their identities. For one night passion knows no rank, class, or social taboo.
Servant locks arms with master, peasant tumbles with lord, priest woos thief. While for most the Night of Masks is a time for passion, for others it is an opportunity to strike political deals and plan conniving plots. All is acceptable during the Night of Masks.
The Night of Masks is an Estalian holiday which has been culturally appropriated by Reiklanders, who use it as a pretext to light bonfires in the hills of Reikland, dance around them, and make passionate love. Though the date of the celebration is wrong, the spirit of the Estalian holiday is somewhat maintained. Join your realm in showing your love of WAR.
Live Event Currency
Players killed during the Night of Masks often drop a currency which can be spent on rewards. There is also a rare chance that a player may drop a more valuable currency.
Those currencies, and their drop rates, are:
- Estalian Duro - 75% drop chance
- Estalian Real - 5% drop chance
Players can also convert currency up or down depending on which they need more of, with a more favorable conversion when converting down.
You may convert currency at the event merchant, with the following rates:
- Give 10x Estalian Duro for 1x Estalian Real
- Give 1x Estalian Real for 12x Estalian Duro
Live Event Rewards
New Masks
This live event introduces 5 brand new Mask Headpieces which players can wear or apply as cosmetics for their helmet.
Each Mask also grants an ability while the Live Event is active. Once the event ends, the mask will expire into a new version without any ability, which can be used purely for cosmetics.
New Cape
The new Estalian Corrida cape can be earned during the Night of Masks by completing a series of riddles.
Players can purchase the Lover's Lure Quest item that begins this chain from the event merchants.
The Corrida Cape has a bright red back and a yellow-orange inner layer, and there are four variants with different colors at the top. (These can be seen in the image on the right.)
Pan De Mian
Killing or being killed during this event awards Pan De Mian. Those who kill an enemy get a bread item which they may click to split the bread in half, keeping a piece for themselves and mailing the rest to their victim.
Sending this will grant a player "Giver's Pan De Mian", and the player who died will find a "Receiver's Pan De Mian" waiting in their mail soon after.
These Pan De Mian can be used to purchase Turron, which is detailed below.
- Almond Turron (lv 40) - Wounds +60 and Renown Gain +25% for 60 minutes
- Blueberry Turron (lv 40) - Initiative +60 and Morale Gain +2 per second for 60 Minutes
- Acai Turron (lv 16) - Wounds +30 and Renown Gain +10% for 60 Minutes
- Sumac Turron (lv 16) - Increases chance to critically hit with Melee, Ranged, and Magical attacks by 2% for 60 minutes
- Cardamom Turron (lv 16) - Increases chance to Block and Parry by 1% for 60 Minutes
- Glowkelp Turron (lv 16) - Reduces chance to be critically hit by 2% for 60 Minutes
- Hibiscus Turron (lv 16) - Increases chance to critically heal by 2% fo9r 60 Minutes
Turron is a specialty dessert from Estalia, and when used in-game, it applies a 60 minute buff similar to Liniments.
New Mounts: Estalian Bull & Armored Bull
Two new mounts can be acquired for a limited time during this live event. These are:
- Bareback Bull - An unarmored version of the bull that can be earned by defeating a roaming Bull inside the RvR lakes. Lasts 30 days.
- Estalian Armored Bull - An armored bull that can be earned as the Elite Reward for completing all live event tasks.
- Estalian Bull/Armored Bull Disc - Exclusive disc designs used by Magus players, awarded for the same activities as above.
New Rose Trophies
Sending Pan De Mian halves to a vanquished foe will also grant your character new Rose Trophies, created exclusively for this Live Event.
A Rose Trophy will go immediately to your inventory, so make sure to have open space when breaking Pan De Mian to ensure it arrives safely.
Players will gain Roses of various colors at the following counters:
- Break 10 Pan De Mian - Yellow Rose
- Break 25 Pan De Mian - Purple Rose
- Break 50 Pan De Mian - Pink Rose
- Break 75 Pan De Mian - Yellow Rose
- Break 100 Pan De Mian - Blue Rose
- Break 150 Pan De Mian - Black Rose
- Break 200 Pan De Mian - White Rose
- Break 250 Pan De Mian - Red Rose
These counters are character-specific and permanent, meaning they can be increased year-over-year should the event return.
The first Rose Trophy of each color granted for free when unlocking these achievements is also tradeable, allowing you to gift your Rose to whomever you love the most... or whomever offers you the most gold!
Once unlocked, you can also purchase additional Rose Trophies for unlocked colors for 100+ Gold from a vendor in the south part of both Altdorf and The Inevitable City.
The Roses purchased in this way are bound but not unique equipped, meaning you can purchase multiple roses to beautify your armor and, perhaps, finally attract a mate.
(Note: Sometimes a Rose trophy may not appear for nearby players when first equipped. Re-logging or moving zones will fix this.)
Consumables
Players can also exchange extra Estalian Duro for consumable potions, including:
- Lasting Elixir of Remedy (lv 35) - 3x Duro
- Potent Lasting Deterrence Potion (lv 35) - 4x Duro
- Potent Lasting Securing Unguent (lv 35) - 5x Duro
Once purchased from the vendor, these potions can be traded or sold to other characters.
Live Event Tasks
There are 10 tasks to complete during the Night of Masks event. These are:
- Fight for the Love of WAR (Complete repeatable quest) x10
- Kill Enemy Players while Masked x 250
- Captured Keeps while Masked x3
- Win a Duel as a Pair
- Target an Estalian Bull
- Defeat the Scourge of Vedenza while Masked
- Dance Around Lit Bonfires (Light an RvR Bonfire with kindling) x1
- Kill 25 Enemies While Under the Bonfire's Boon x25
- Break Pan De Mian x10
- Complete the first step of 'Kissed by the Sun'
- Complete all Night of Masks Tasks
RvR Bonfires
Players can spend a single Estalian Duro to purchase Kindling, which can be used on any RvR Bonfire to apply a special buff/debuff to all players in range.
With the intent of fights lasting longer than before, all players (allies and enemies) within 150 feet of the Bonfire are granted:
- -30% Incoming Damage
- -15% Incoming Healing
- Heavy Morale Drain
Bonfire buffs are exclusive to the area around Battlefield Objectives, and do not apply at Keeps or Fortresses.
Each Kindling added to the fire will extend the duration of the buff, up to a maximum of ~30 Minutes.
