RvR and Scenario currencies have been unified into the War Crest currency. All the previous Scenario and RvR sets can be bought for this new currency.

To unlock buying a higher tier of armor sets you need to first acquire at least one of the sets in the previous tier. For example, to buy Obliterator armor, you must first get either the Braggart set or the Decimator set. Then the Obliterator set allows you to get the Duelist and Devastator sets and so on. Triumphant & Victorious counts as the same tier as Invader, so in that tier there's 3 possible sets, with Invader being the cheapest but also the lowest in term of item level.
Players of both factions can spend their War Crests and Genesis Crests in the Southern parts of both [[Altdorf]] and [[The Inevitable City]].

Armor pieces no longer drop inside gold bags, but they contain a good amount of War Crests to buy the pieces you want.

Different genesis currencies are now unified into the [[Genesis Crest]]. Gold bags will drop 5 Genesis Crests, Purple bags will drop 4, Blue 3, and so on. You can now obtain specific Genesis accessories, as well as [[Subjugator Weapons]], by spending your Genesis Crests. This change removes the previous RNG style of awarding these pieces, and allows players to save up and select the exact items they would like.

War Crests and War Tokens

As part of the new Unified currency of the March 2022 patch, Return of Reckoning now features unified PvP and PvE Currencies, which can be earned by any character at all levels within the game.

  • In PvP, your character will earn War Crests.
  • In PvE Public Quests, your character will earn War Tokens.
  • All Subjugator Weapons and Genesis items are now purchased with Genesis Crests.

War Crests

War Crest currency
War Crest.

The War Crest is Return of Reckoning's currency that unifies all PvP game-modes (Scenario, Realm vs Realm and Ranked) into a single currency. They're marked by a distinctly red color.

You can start earning War Crests at level 1, and you'll use this same currency for all PvP gear as you level up, from your first pair of Boots all the way to Sovereign Gear.

You can earn War Crests by:

  • Killing enemy players in RvR
  • Playing Scenarios
  • Locking Zones and Fortresses

You can also earn bonus War Crests from Zone Lock bags in Open RvR from level 16+, with higher color bags awarding the most War Crests.

This new unified system means that players no longer need to specifically farm only Scenarios, Open RvR, or Ranked Scenarios -- they can now play whichever kind of content they'd like to acquire their gear.

Note: You'll get bonus War Crests if you lock a Zone or Fortress from your Racial pairing. For example, a High Elf or Dark Elf locking the High Elf zone "Caledor" will get extra War Crest payouts, up to a maximum of 30.

War Tokens

War Token currency
War Tokens are earned via Public Quests.

War Tokens are the new unified PvE Currency, and are earned by completing Public Quests.

War Tokens are colored blue to clearly identify them from War Crests, and can be used for:

  • Purchasing PvE Armor Sets
  • Purchasing Health and AP Potions from vendors
  • Purchasing Crafting items (like Talisman fragments, Containers, etc.)

The higher the bag color you earn in the Public Quest, and the higher level the Public Quest, the more War Tokens you'll find within.

Genesis Crests

Genesis Crest currency
You'll find Genesis Crests within Zone Lock bags at level 16+.

Previously, players had to rely on RNG to get a Genesis piece or Subjugator Weapon they wanted, and often would get many duplicates along the way.

This has been replaced with new unified Genesis Crests, which allow players to select the specific accessory or weapon they'd like, and can be earned from level 16+.

You can earn Genesis Crests via:

You'll get One Genesis Crest in a White Bag, Two Crests in a Green Bag, and so on, up to a maximum of Five Genesis Crests in a Gold Bag.

Genesis Crests are also now used to purchase Subjugator Weapons, with 1-handed Weapons costing 15 and 2-handed weapons costing 30.

Spending your War Crests, War Tokens, and Genesis Crests

Players of both factions can spend their War Crests and Genesis Crests in the Southern parts of both Altdorf and The Inevitable City.

  • Order Players should head to the War Quarters in Southwest Altdorf.
  • Destruction Players should head to the Undercroft in South Inevitable City.

In Tier 1, both factions can also spend these War Crests in the Warcamps located just outside each RvR pairing.

The new Ward System

Alongside the change that unified all Old Currencies, a new Ward System was introduced.

Players can also now use either PvP or PvE Gear to unlock the Wards required to equip more powerful gear, allowing players to use PvE as a way to save their War Crests for expensive purchases down the road.

Please see the Wards Page for more information on this system.

Why Unify Currency?

  • Mainly it will create a smoother journey in the future, where you have one stable currency to purchase gear, potions, weapons, etc. without stacking up on lower tier currencies.
  • You will no longer have your desired gears locked behind a specific content. You can play your favorite game modes, participate in your favorite activities in these game modes and get rewarded properly.
  • The developers will be able to create new content, and add new equipment, without having to worry about currencies - neither will you have to worry about farming new currencies.
  • We reached a point where all the currencies became mentally exhausting to current and newer players. The new currency will just make everything smoother, for the team and for the community.

Ranked Scenarios & Ranked Gear

Additionally the Triumphant Set and the Victorious Set can also be bought for War Crests as well as for Triumphant Emblems as they used to.

Ranked scenarios remain the fastest way to acquire these sets and are also required to get Triumphant Insignia for the ring. This means that Ranked Scenarios are still the key for the Ranked gear sets, but the War Crests can be used as an alternative but longer route.
