The Guard skills are unlocked at Level 10 for all tank classes and are simply called Guard. The only exception is the Blackorc version which is called Save da Runts.
Guard is a core mechanic of all tank classes. With this ability you will transfer 50% of the incoming damage and 35% of the generated Hate (only PvE) from a groupmate onto yourself, as long as you are within 30ft to them.
Guard damage can not be mitigated, but you can defend against it by block and parry, independent of the attack type. So guard damage from ranged and magic attacks will still be parried, instead of doged/disrupted. The attackers offensive stats and strikethrough stats for the attack type are still used though. Link
If the original damage was undefendable, the guard damage will be undefendeble, too.
Morale damage can not be mitigated via guard.
Taking guard damage is an effective way for tanks to gain contribution in RvR-Zones.
Via guard reduced damage counts as Protection on SC and City scoreboards.
Incoming damage can only be mitigated by one guard. If multiple guards are applied to one target, each guarding tanks will take 50% of the damage, while the original damage is still only reduced by 50%. Try to avoid double guarding a target.

Examples: A Healer gets hit by 1000dmg

Example 1: Healer is guarded by Tank A:; Healer 500dmg + Tank A 500dmg =1000dmg
Example 2: Healer is guarded by Tank A and Tank B:; Healer 500dmg + Tank A 500dmg + Tank B 500 dmg = 1500dmg

Helps to stay in range to your guard target/guarding tank by adding a colored line between you and them.

Knowing who is guarded or not might be helpful for picking targets or protecting groupmates.
