Scenario Description
Gates of Ekrund is fought at the massive Dwarven gatehouse guarding the mountain pass between Ekrund and Mount Bloodhorn. Order holds the fortress and must defend it, while Destruction seeks to break in and seize control of the capture points. Teams start closest to their respective outer objectives — Order near the Supply Room and Destruction near the Ammunitions Cache — with the central Gate Switch being the most contested.

---

Objectives & Scoring
Control Points
* Gate Switch — Central objective; key to scoring and often the focus of large engagements.
* Supply Room — Order’s nearest objective, usually captured early by Order teams.
* Ammunitions Cache — Destruction’s closest capture point, typically an early target for Destro players.

Scoring
* Capture Gate Switch: ~30 points
* Capture Supply Room or Ammunitions Cache: ~15 points
* Hold any Objective: ~2 points per tick
* Kill an Enemy Player: ~5 points

The first team to reach 500 points wins, or the team with the higher score when time runs out earns victory.

---

Map & Gameplay
Players must balance capturing objectives with combat operations. The Gate Switch in the centre often sees the most action, while teams rotate between the outer objectives to maintain pressure or counterplay. Ranged players and healers often support from elevated positions overlooking objectives, and coordinated group movement helps secure captures or defend points.

---

General Strategy
* Start by rushing to the closest point and capture it. If someone is already capturing it, proceed to the Gate Switch as fast as possible.
* On Order side, use the lower road and hug the hill on your left to reach Gate Switch faster; it is the shortest route.
* Flank enemies whenever possible, ensuring their nearest flag is always contested or captured. This slows or disrupts enemy momentum.
* Hold the Gate Switch. Always defend it, keeping the majority of your team there while others flank or capture the other two objectives.

---

Archetype Roles
* **Tanks & Melee DPS:** Push centre and support captures.
* **Ranged DPS:** Help secure Supply Room / Ammunitions Cache and cover from elevations.
* **Healers:** Stick with frontliners and stay alive through prolonged fights near objectives.

---

Lore / Background
Gates of Ekrund is set at a strategic mountain pass near the Dwarven stronghold of Ekrund. This pass guards the approaches from the northern Badlands into the Heartlands, making it a key defensive position for Order.

The Dwarves maintain fortified gatehouses, supply rooms, and ammunition caches to hold off invasions. Destruction forces, eager to press into the Heartlands, frequently assault these gates in coordinated attacks, attempting to breach the mountain defenses and disrupt Order’s control of the region.

The scenario reflects the ongoing struggle between Order and Destruction over strategic chokepoints in the Old World, where control of terrain can tip the balance of power in larger RvR campaigns.
However, on June 29th 2010 the European operations transiationed back over to Mythic Entertainment.
Development
Before Mythic Entertainment, a studio called Anthill Studios which was later acquired by Climax Studios and renamed "Climax Nottingham" was working from 2000 on a Warhammer Online game of their own<ref name="Climax1">gamesindustry.biz (2004)
However in mid 2004 due to the costs involved in brining the game to market was cancelled. The game was to be published by Sega Europe.

In 2005 Games Workshop was approached by Mythic Entertainment with a pitch for a new Warhammer Online MMORPG<ref name="IGN2005">IGN (2005). The original design was to have three factions; Order, Destruction & Chaos and was for the first half of its development lifecycle was aimed to be a PvE focused game to compete more directly with World of Warcraft whilst a sequel to Dark Age of Camelot would focus on RvR content. However the sequel was later cancelled and the RvR elements were adapted into Warhammer Online.

The game was originally also planned to have an Xbox 360 release which Mythic had a working prototype<ref name="Xbox1">@Jeff_Skalski

<i>There are lairs hidden across the world of WAR. Some require feats of dexterity to uncover, others may be puzzles to solve (WIP), still others will take superiour combat skills to dispatch the lair boss and gain its treasures. You may be bale to solo some of the lair bosses, if you are advanced enough in rank, but it's recommended for most lairs that you team up with a small party of two or three other players to vanquish the threat. More difficult lairs will require a full warband.</i>
Miscellaneous
For dungeons in general it is advisable to have the addons Aggrometer and Buffhead.

A must have for tanks is the PvE tactic Menace.

In some encounters it can proof useful to up your video settings to be able to see all effects.

You can do this by pressing Escape -> User Settings -> Video -> Customize (performance) -> Effects -> Play Abilities effects on : All. (Effects System Detail setting wont affect the visibility).

Also make sure to Uncheck the DisableVFX box under Settings -> Server tab, otherwise no ground effect will be displayed.

Lockouts
* Lockout system has changed. Previously lockout on particular NPC prevented you from entering an instance with different ID than yours if you were not a leader, now you are able to enter different instance and help defeat the boss, but you will be automagically excluded from the loot roll. Also, if there are 3 or more people in your party with lockout on the particular boss nobody in party will be eligible for the loot roll.
* .lockout command was changed and expanded - it will now print in the chat all your current lockouts and all lockouts of your party members. In case of 3 people or more in your party with lockout for particular boss you will be informed that your party is not eligible for loot roll.
* Issue of people with one lockout not able to enter an instance should be resolved by above changes.

Recent Patch Changes
* You will now receive messages when entering an instance. (Additional messages when binding will also be shown incase any issues occur)

* You can now enter an instance before the group leader, however the instance state will still be restored from the group leader.

* You group will be soft bound to an instance when a player first enters. You can do /partyresetinstance to clear this (if you want to switch leaders for example and progress from the other players).

* You will be bound to the new instance when you kill your first boss (if you had previously changed instance/group).

* You will be bound to a new instance if you progress further in your new instance than your last instance.

* Logging back into your character in an instance will now put you back into the instance and instance group.

* Logging back into an instance after a server restart will start the instance from its saved state.

* Being kicked out of a group while in a Dungeon will return you to the entry point.

* You should no longer be able to join an instance and have more than 6 players.

* Logging into the game when you were in a Dungeon or Scenario which no longer exists will now properly teleport you to the point before you entered, or if failing that your bind point. ( Before you would experience some green screens and be teleported to the city)
The Elven God of the Hunt has stalked the mortal lands since time immemorial. Year in and year out, the High Elves gather to honor Kurnous with a sacred hunt, where the best of the best try to prove themselves Master Hunters in the eyes of the greatest hunter of them all.

But with the war raging on, the practice has faltered ... and the God of the Hunt is angry. No longer do skillful mortals hunt to feed their families; instead, hardened soldiers scour the woods and meadows of all available game. No longer do hunters observe the sacred rites; they kill only to test their skills, and leave their prey to rot on the battlefields...

The God of the Hunt can brook no more! The hunter's moon has risen! The horn of Kurnous has sounded! Let those who honor the ancient traditions pay heed—and let all who slaughter with abandon tremble!
Under the Hunter's Moon
Groups of six players can test their mettle against the ultimate quarry in the new instanced dungeon: The Hunter's Vale—the hunting grounds of the Spirit of Kurnous! But be warned, the sacred vine portals to The Hunter's Vale are located only in RvR battlefields, where the looming Ghostly Avatar of Kurnous curses all who incur his wrath. If the God of the Hunt lays his Beast Hex upon you, you may have only seconds to pass it on to someone else before his wrath transforms you ... and not for the better.

In addition, players who sight the fabled White Stag will be granted a special experience buff ("The Blessing of Kurnous"), and vie for the honor of slaying Kurnous's sacred deer.

On Return of Reckoning this dungeon only exists as a Tier 4 Dungeon.
The instance is laid out in a spiraling woodland path. Straying from the path is generally a bad idea, as there are a huge number of dryads along the sides of the path that will respawn when killed. As you can see by the handy map I've provided, the path kind of winds around the entire instance.

Live Event: Wild Hunt
The Wild Hunt opens up a completely new instanced dungeon called the Hunter's Vale, where the Spirit of Kurnous waits to challenge would-be "master hunters" to the hunt of their lives! Accessed from the Elf RvR areas, this new zone is only available for the duration of The Wild Hunt Live Event, to six-player groups of all Ranks. And inside its twisting maze of forest paths, amid countless dangers borne of fang and claw and nature itself, players can accomplish Wild Hunt tasks and earn great rewards, such as the Fleet Stag Mantle—a sacred cloak that temporarily transforms he or she who wears it into a mighty stag and grants them the ability to travel at the same speed as a mount!
Strike

Strikethrough draws a line through the text that is its parameter. This is done by embedding the parameter in an HTML s element, producing output such as: this, i.e. text with a line drawn through its middle. Outside articles, it can be used to mark something as no longer accurate or relevant without removing it from view. Do not use it, however, to indicate document edits; to mark a span of text as having been removed from a document, use del. This template should be used within one block (paragraph); it should not wrap around multiple paragraphs or even multiple bullet points. See the example below for wrapping multiple bullets.

Example
How to wrap a block of text
To wrap text that contains line breaks, use Strikethroughdiv instead.

{{Markup
|width=auto |col1=left |col2=left

Whether you are a new player to Warhammer, a returning player, or a veteran, this guide can help you navigate the world of Scenarios in Return of Reckoning.

* To queue for scenarios, click the Scenario queuer button at the top left of your mini map.
* Scenarios are better experienced with others; Grab a friend or a party and queue together.
* Scenarios have a time limit of 15 minutes.
* Scenarios are score-based up to 500 points. Player kills, holding control points or control objects, capturing control points, or a combination of these contribute to earning points.
* Scenarios have a universal resurrection timer with a maximum time of 30s, so each time you hit the Respawn button, it can take anywhere from 1 to 30 seconds to respawn at your warcamp.
* Scenarios have a population cap. Most are capped at 24 players total (two groups per realm). Some scenarios are flagged for 6v6 only, normally on a semi-regular rotation between The Eternal Citadel, Caledor Woods, or Lost Temple of Isha. Other scenarios can hold as many as 18 per side (36 total), like Battle for Praag or Gromril Crossing.
* Scenarios are based on your tier, so you will only be matched with players in your tier. The current tiers are:
** Tier 1: 1-15
** Tier 2/3: 16-30
** Tier 4: 31-40
* To determine the pick-up group scenario, type <b>.pug</b> into the /say channel.
* Note: You will not be able to mount if you pick up a flag, bauble, or other type of object. This is intentional.

The Bastion Stair is a Three-Tier Dungeon the entrance of which can be found just East of coordinates 64.3, 60.0 in the Chaos Waste, or via Teleport Scroll purchasable from vendor Lieutenant Berkel stationed within Sigmar's Hammer (level 40 is required to utilize these scrolls). Designed for groups of six players conquest of the Bastion Stair yields the primary rewards of the Bloodlord Armor set-piece and character associated Bloodlord weapons. The various armor set-pieces can be acquired via either loot-drops following the defeat of individual Dungeon Lords or by completing the various Bastion Stair Repeatable Quest. Additional quest are available within the Dungeon Lobby for players to run if desired. These include but are not limited to the Bastion Stair quest available from Knight Zollner, the completion of which yields a Stalwart Stone, and the Delicate Balance quest available from Betchter Pultz, the completion of which yields the choice of one of four Bloodrage Talismans. Influence is gained while running the paths of the Bastion Stair, with the Influence Merchant located to the right of the entranceway. Sergeant Dunstan yields the Bloodlord Weapons and when a player's influence gain is complete the Bloodlord Warcoat. Additional Quest yield associated level 34 uncommon gear, or players may engage in the search for the legendary Spear of Myrmidia.

A Career Trainer and a Renown Trainer are also present in the Dungeon Lobby.

Influence rewards are gained upon reaching these levels: 17,970 for the Basic reward, 35,940 for the Advanced, and 62,820 for the Elite.

This PVE Dungeon is separated into distinct wings, the Trail of Carnage, the Path of Fury, and the Steps of Ruin.

The left portal leads to the Trail of Carnage, which in the original incarnation consisted of three Public Quest. These were entitled the Rise of Carnage, the Bloodherd Labyrinth, and the Trail of Carnage, but now consist of individual Chaos Heroes to be defeated. In order these are Borzar Rageborn, Gahlvoth Darkrage, and Azuk'Thul. The final boss in this wing is Thar'lgnan, whom when defeated drops the Bloodlord Boots and/or Gloves.

The right portal leads to the Path of Fury, originally comprised of Fury's Ascent, the Halls of Rage, and the Path of Fury. The Chaos Heroes to be defeated in this wing are Urlf Daemonblessed, Garithex the Mountain, and Chorek the Unstoppable. The final boss in this wing is Lord Slaurith, whom when defeated drops the Bloodlord Shoulders.

The middle wing leads to the Steps of Ruin, again originally comprised of the Step of Anger, the Step of Hatred, and the Brass Legion. In order the boss monsters to be defeated here are Wrackspite, Clawfand and Doomspike, and Zekaraz the Bloodcaller. The final boss to be encountered here is Kaarn the Vanquisher whom when defeated drops the Bloodlord Helmet.

Once these wings have been completed players may enter the Rift of Rage and battle Skull Lord Var'Ithrok, whom when banished drops the Bloodlord Chest and/or Helmet.

Details on these individual Chaos creatures and suggestions for defeating them will follow at some point.

A great skull beneath which is a massive cauldron from which flows what appears to be molten brass greets players as they first enter the main forum. The first landing is guarded by two Champions, a Bloodherd Gor and Skulltaker Chosen. Once these are defeated players are free to take the path of their choice.

As cited above Dungeon Bosses to defeat include Lord Slaurith, Thar'lgnan, Kaarn The Vanquisher, and Skull Lord Var'lthrok. Players of the various Warhammer Fantasy series of games will recognize the forms of many of the Bastion Stair inhabitants as transferred to the Age Of Reckoning game, to include the Bloodletters of Khorne, only known of here as Brass Bloodfiends. The final boss encountered is a Bloodthirster of Khorne, also known of as the Lord of Skulls, which can not be defeated in the normal sense of the word but only banished back into the Rift.

Background Lore: Illuminated by the shimmering light of the Rift of Rage and said to have been built through the will of the Chaos Lord of Skulls, the Bastion Stair sits as the entrance to the Outer Realm of Khorne. This horrifically and maniacally constructed fortress is a domain wherein dwell the manifestations of true nightmare, where walls stained with the blood of countless sacrifice house the minions of darkness which have plagued the Old World for ages, all serving Khorne himself. According to the Timeline For The Known World, as published in The World Guide section of Warhammer Fantasy (first publishing date 1986), the Bastion Stair was most probably built around the year 2300 (according to the Human Calendar) during the Second Incursion of Chaos into the Old World. During this time most of Norsca and the Northern Reaches were overrun by the forces of Chaos. Only an alliance between Dwarfs and Men was eventually able to turn the tide, repulse the invaders, and return the area to some semblance of its former order.

Miscellaneous
For dungeons in general it is advisable to have the addons Aggrometer and Buffhead.

A must have for tanks is the PvE tactic Menace.

In some encounters it can proof useful to up your video settings to be able to see all effects.

You can do this by pressing Escape -> Video -> Customize -> Effects & Miscellaneous.
Then set all effects and animations to balanced.

Highpass Cemeterythe takes place in an old cemetery which marks the place of an ancient battle. A flat, snowy place, the cemetery is notable for the waist-deep fog and the ominous gravestones, mausoleums, and statues littering the grounds.

Highpass Cemeterythe features simple dual capture mechanics. Capture both the Stag and the Crypt to earn points for your Realm and be granted a powerful boon to destroy your enemies!
Effectively, your Realm should look forward to capture one point as soon as possible, while a few other prevent the capture of the other point, by the opposing Realm. The Cemetery is a location filled with obstacles that could be used for LoS (Line of Sight) in order to counter casters and isolate enemies from their healers.

Score Calculation
Every scenario has a different way to calculate the score for each Realm. In this SC:

* Kill = 5 points
* Capture both objectives = 80 points
* Hold both objectives for 15 seconds = gain a damage buff

Optimal Strategy
* This scenario is best played with a coordinated group. Consider teaming up with other players before queueing.
* Aim at capturing one objective as fast as possible, then head towards the second one with your team.
* Consider sending a few players to the opposite side of the main team, in order to delay any capture attempts by the enemy realm.
* Slaughtering your enemies in this scenario is a must, however you need to profit from any team fight win to instantly capture the objectives.
* Hold the conquered objectives for 15 seconds in order to gain the team-wide damage buff.

Best way to team up
Teaming up in Return of Reckoning is easy. You can ask for a group or advertise one using the Looking For Group channel. Simply type /5 in your chat and advertise your message.
You should aim for a 2-2-2, which translates to 2 tanks, 2 damage dealers and 2 healers before queueing.
Queueing with a team drastically increases your win rate and thus your rewards.

Hunter's Vale is a Dungoen.

This summer, Mythic Entertainment presents you with the opportunity to find out whether you are mighty hunters—or merely prey—with WAR's upcoming Live Event: The Wild Hunt!

It is the Age of Reckoning, and the God of the Hunt will take his toll...

Locations
The Vale is accessed by right clicking on the Vale Vines that spawn inside the RvR lakes of the following zones. If you look at your map, the vines will be nearby the location of the Curse of Kurnous PQ. You can enter the Vale regardless of the current state of the PQ, although you cannot enter while in combat. When inside the instance, you receive the effects of Bolster for that tier.

* Tier 1: The Blighted Isle (11 and under)
* Tier 1: Nordland (11 and under)
* Tier 2: The Shadowlands (21 and under)
* Tier 3: Avelorn (31 and under)
* Tier 4: Caledor, Dragonwake, and Eataine

Layout

Dungeon denizens
Bosses
The following bosses are present in Hunter's Vale:
*Treekin Twins
*Spellbiter
*Thanan Tree Lord
*The Three Mothers
*The Cadaithaine Lion
*Spirit of Kurnous
